Write a financial promo lead in 2 days!?

“Take everything you heard in this room today, and write a headline and lead for a financial promo idea that interests you.”

That’s what Kelly Brown, the Stansberry Research copy chief, said to me and a bunch of attendees on Day 2 of the Stansberry Copy Boot Camp, where they were selecting new copywriters for their team.

I looked around the slightly cramped conference room in Annapolis, Maryland… as copywriters, marketers, and financial newsletter editors milled about and chatted with each other.

My palms began to sweat.

I was planning to hang out with friends in St Pete and Miami after the boot camp, which meant I only had 2 full days to write this assignment.

Sounds impossible… but I did it, somehow.
